Writing one's future

What a beautiful morning, as I open my eyes, looking out the big windows of my bedroom over the fields below.  I think again, how grateful I am to be here.  I always wanted to live in the country.  I have my own little space where I can walk with the dogs and enjoy nature.

Oh look, the family of turkeys have returned to have breakfast at the bird feeder, my birds won't be impressed and when I take the dogs out, it's going to turn into a circus.

As we head through to the kitchen, I flip on the tea kettle, grab my coat, throw on my shoes, and brace myself for the chaos that's about to unfold .  I open the door and off they go, Harley first because she's bigger and faster, Chico hot on her heals, to teach those turkeys whose yard it really is.

Once they have declared their victory and the turkeys enjoyed the game of tag, We're all back inside for some breakfast.

This was a big step for me, a scary one, leaving my little house behind, that I loved so much, to move to the country.  I wanted more space where I could walk with the dogs in my own fields and enjoy nature right out my back door.  I'm still amazed, I feel so peaceful, content, it's been a long journey getting to this place.

Once everyone is fed and happy, I head into my studio, right off the kitchen, teapot in hand to continue working on projects I've started but never seem to find their way to completion.  I realize I need to focus better and finish one thing before starting another, but where's the fun in that.  I'm creating products that I will sell under my brand, handmade gifts for those looking for something special.

My studio is a space full of light, love, and creativity.  I had the house renovated before I moved in because I wanted a space to create in, that was my own.  Two walls are floor to ceiling windows, like something you would find in an old English house.  The other walls are full of shelves that house everything and anything that helps me bring my ideas together.  It's also a workshop, there's sawdust everywhere, I really should vacuum that up before it gets everywhere.

After a few hours of tinkering, it's time the dogs and I got outside.  It's so peaceful here not too quiet, we're still close to town, but quiet enough that you can hear the birds.  There was a time where we would have to jump in the truck whenever we wanted to go for a hike, now we walk out our back door.  I am blessed for this peaceful little patch of heaven I have carved out for myself.
