Laurel Graham is a Canadian/Irish songwriter, independent artist and emerging author developing her a project called Romantic Girl which is a novel that comes with its own soundtrack.
Growing up as an only child on a horse farm in Ontario Canada, Laurel was always imagining stories for entertainment and was known to sing Patsy Cline from four years old.
A free spirit by nature, at eighteen Laurel went to Holland to train in show jumping, and wrote articles on her travels. Even then she saw herself becoming a writer one day.
After studying journalism and visual media in Ireland, Laurel began a career in the film industry as an assistant director, and it was during this time she fell in love with songwriting.
After putting off her creative ambitions for nearly a decade, Laurel found herself back in Ontario. It was at this time she’d amassed over an album’s worth of songs she wanted to record.
Fortunate to be connected with producer Brandon Day, Laurel self-funded her unreleased debut album Romantic Girl. The process led to conversations about the works potential as a musical.
When Laurel considered the story, a line came to her, “It’s about a girl named Blazer Rose who gets addicted to a magical pair of rose-coloured glasses and ends up in Love Rehab.”
This idea grew into something even bigger when Laurel realized it had to be a novel first.
Laurel has been spending time in London developing her project. After teaming up with Andrea Dee from Amplify Her, together they made a strategy to first releases two singles with music videos.
So far three singles have been released—and Laurel is turning her focus towards releasing the album, recording more music in London, and creating a Love Rehab: Writing Support Group.
